As I have grown into the role of a Coach, I have been relatively silent on issues around Equality. As I listen to people as both a Coach and Guide for the Red Boot Way, the idea that we are all much more alike than different keeps getting reinforced. Regardless of everything that makes us unique: skin color, beliefs, backgrounds, sexual orientation, etc. we really are much more alike than we are different.
I thought that as a Coach, I should quiet my beliefs in an effort to appeal to everyone. However, in order to be truly authentic and transparent, I am standing up as a Coach and Warrior.
Regardless of our race, color, sexual orientation, gender identity or religion, we all deserve the same, equal rights. We deserve the same opportunities. We deserve to be loved, treated fairly and to feel safe.
My belief in Equality sits at the core of who I am.
I have been silent so that people can be comfortable with me. Yet, clients pay me to push them out of their comfort zone. I expect clients to make decisions and move forward from their own integrity, and I need to do the same and bravely step up.
Questions I might ask a client:
What is it costing you to not stand up and speak out?
What is it costing others when you don’t take action?
