MOXIE. A word I’ve been using for years. So, when Jaime Wilkins of Sincerely Satisfied recently asked if I’d be interested in doing a podcast, I immediately emailed back with a yes, before fear could set in.
Moxie set in, thankfully. Moxie is the spirited courageousness that pushes me into the unknown, accepting that things out of my control are simply going to unfold, or possibly unravel. It’s bravely stepping up in all of my discomfort and awkwardness because doing something new is also an opportunity for growth. And this one did not disappoint.
Sometimes I try new things, take on new responsibilities, put myself out there because I simply don’t have a good reason to say no. Feeling fear and awkward aren’t usually good reasons to say no. Jaime and I talk about how saying yes and doing new things relate to relocation in this podcast, as well as authenticity, vulnerability and gratitude.
Encouraging students and clients to say yes and step into the unpredictable, unscripted unknown of being new in a new place is my jam. So, I leaned in, spoke publicly, acknowledged how awkward I felt and just kept going. (And off the record, Jaime has superb editing skills.)
The more we put ourselves out there, out of our comfort zones, the more comfortable we’ll feel. Especially in a new place. Moxie keeps me moving forward bravely and doing things like a podcast. Relocation and being new take a boatload of MOXIE, too.
So, pour yourself a cup of coffee and listen to the podcast, here. We talk about RELOCATION MOXIE, mindset, gratitude and authenticity; inspire you to go first and say yes, whether you feel awkward or comfortable being new and more. Enjoy!
